Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (the Buckley Amendment) restricts the use of student academic information to persons having a legitimate educational purpose related to official University business. Data is restricted from release to a third party. Possible FERPA violations will be traceable to the individual's IP address. Questions concerning FERPA should be directed to the Office of the Registrar.
